Maze Bank Arena • 9 modes
Arena War
Nine Maze Bank Arena vehicle modes, from elimination and flags to tag-team, traps, bombs, ball play and survival against a timer. Participation does not require an Arena Workshop purchase; the property supports owned vehicles, modification and the full Arena Career path.
ARENA / WARComplete activity guide
The official catalogue contains seven launch modes plus the later Buzzer Beater and Bomb Ball. GTA$/RP depend on mode, rounds, result and settings, while AP/Sponsorship Tier are separate progression—there is no single sustainable hourly rate.

Open Pause Menu → Online → Jobs → Play Job → Rockstar Created → Arena War, or enter the active Arena War Series marker at Maze Bank Arena. Choose one of the nine named modes.
Rank 1, 2–16 players, all supported platforms. The arenawar.tv Workshop is optional for participation, but needed to store/modify owned Arena Contenders and develop the associated career facilities.
Check the Arena War category rather than ordinary Adversary Modes, plus the active marker by the arena. If the series tile is hidden, launch a named Rockstar Created Job. Do not buy the Workshop solely to unlock matchmaking.

01 • First completion, step by step
First completion, step by step
01 Choose a clear first mode
- ACTION
- For a first match choose Carnage, Flag War or Wreck It—their objective is visible from launch. Save Games Masters and Tag Team for a communicating team.
- TIP
- Use at least two rounds when roles swap and enable balanced teams.
- RISK / FAILURE CONDITION
- Choosing blindly can assign you as a trap operator when you expected ordinary driving.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- Return to the Job description, state the objective and only then select a vehicle.
02 Choose a vehicle for the role
- ACTION
- Use the lobby-provided vehicle option or an owned eligible Arena Contender. Prioritise mass, handling or agility for the objective rather than the most expensive cosmetic build.
- TIP
- You can still join without a Workshop—treat the first match as a test before buying anything.
- RISK / FAILURE CONDITION
- A mismatched vehicle in Flag War/Here Come the Monsters can undermine the role despite strong weapons.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- After the round switch to an available stock vehicle/class or leave before investing in a Workshop.
03 Learn the arena and pickups
- ACTION
- In the first minute identify ramps, repair/health points, weapons, traps and a safe return route. Watch the minimap and mode instruction.
- TIP
- Save repair pickups for meaningful damage rather than consuming them just because they are on the racing line.
- RISK / FAILURE CONDITION
- Entering a trap or pit without an exit route can eliminate the vehicle before meeting an opponent.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- Slow down, return to the arena centre and use the respawn/repair options provided by the mode.
04 Play the win condition
- ACTION
- In elimination focus targets with the team; in Flag War escort the carrier; in Games Masters drivers collect checkpoints while the other side controls traps; in Tag Team the active driver survives until a safe tag.
- TIP
- Before the round assign an objective driver and one blocker/trap operator.
- RISK / FAILURE CONDITION
- A solo kill chase leaves the flag, checkpoints or Tag Team partner unprotected.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- Break off the chase, return to the objective marker and rebuild a shared driving line.
05 Use the role swap
- ACTION
- After a round check whether teams swapped sides. In Games Masters remember the traps used against you; in Here Come the Monsters change plans between the monster truck and compact survivor.
- TIP
- In Tag Team switch the active driver before the vehicle is critically damaged, not after control is lost.
- RISK / FAILURE CONDITION
- Failing to adapt gives the opponent the same easy counter next round.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- Change the entry route, objective driver or pickup timing; the whole team composition need not change.
06 Confirm result and AP
- ACTION
- After the final round wait for GTA$/RP/JP and the Arena War screen. If progressing Arena Career, check AP/Sponsorship Tier separately from cash.
- TIP
- Buy the Workshop only when you want to store/modify owned Arena vehicles and play the series regularly.
- RISK / FAILURE CONDITION
- Treating AP as cash or the Workshop price as a start fee misrepresents the mode's economy.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- Separate match completion from the purchase decision; you can replay with a lobby option without owning the property.
02 • Variants and mechanics
Variants and mechanics
Carnage
2–16Arena War Series / Rockstar Created.
- OBJECTIVE
- Destroy the opposition and remain an active vehicle.
- MECHANIC
- Vehicle elimination with pickups, weapons and arena hazards; team focus is stronger than isolated chases.
- COMPLETION
- Last player/team or the round score defined by the lobby.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- When heavily damaged retreat to repair and rejoin with the team; do not commit to a head-on ram without an exit.
Flag War
2–16Arena War Series / Rockstar Created.
- OBJECTIVE
- Capture the opposing flag and return it while defending your own.
- MECHANIC
- Roles: the flag carrier chooses agility; escorts block pursuit; a defender stays with the home flag.
- COMPLETION
- Target score or lead at time expiry.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- If the carrier is lost, the nearest escort takes over while the rest block the opponent's return route.
Wreck It
2–16Arena War Series / Rockstar Created.
- OBJECTIVE
- Finish the race or eliminate rivals before they do the same to you.
- MECHANIC
- This is an attrition race: racing line, pickups and avoiding wrecks matter as much as speed.
- COMPLETION
- Finish line or last remaining competitor under the round settings.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- After spinning, point at the next checkpoint; revenge against the culprit only loses a lap.
Tag Team
2–16Arena War Series / Rockstar Created.
- OBJECTIVE
- One teammate fights actively while the rest wait to tag in.
- MECHANIC
- The active driver builds advantage while reserves watch traps/pickups and call a safe tag window.
- COMPLETION
- Last team with an active vehicle.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- Tag out before vehicle condition becomes critical; the reserve enters with a plan rather than a random sprint.
Games Masters
2–16Arena War Series / Rockstar Created.
- OBJECTIVE
- Drivers collect checkpoints while the opposing side operates traps; roles swap after the round.
- MECHANIC
- Drivers spread only enough to avoid one trap; operators trigger hazards ahead of a vehicle, not after it passes.
- COMPLETION
- Checkpoint score across both role rounds.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- After losing a vehicle the next driver changes line; operators save traps for a clustered group.
Here Come the Monsters
2–16Arena War Series / Rockstar Created.
- OBJECTIVE
- Monster trucks try to crush compact cars; survivors only need one car to remain.
- MECHANIC
- Monster trucks cut off routes rather than tail-chase; compacts use ramps, sharp direction changes and spacing.
- COMPLETION
- All compacts destroyed or at least one survives the timer.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- The last compact plays the timer and avoids the centre; monster trucks close exits in pairs.
Hot Bomb
2–16Arena War Series / Rockstar Created.
- OBJECTIVE
- Transfer the active bomb to another vehicle through contact before it explodes.
- MECHANIC
- The bomb carrier seeks a controlled ram while everyone else maintains distance and an escape route.
- COMPLETION
- Last vehicle/team after successive detonations.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- If holding the bomb, do not straight-line chase a faster target; cut the corner or use a ramp shortcut.
Buzzer Beater
2–16Arena War Series / Rockstar Created.
- OBJECTIVE
- Collect checkpoints that add seconds and remain the last rider before the timer explodes.
- MECHANIC
- Plan a loop through nearby checkpoints; a risky jump is worthwhile only when the time gain exceeds the return path.
- COMPLETION
- Last active rider.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- With little time choose the nearest safe checkpoint rather than fighting; a collision can consume the final seconds.
Bomb Ball
2–16Arena War Series / Rockstar Created.
- OBJECTIVE
- Push explosive balls into the opponent's half/goal and score more points.
- MECHANIC
- One player drives the ball while another blocks the opponent's line; hit at an angle to avoid sending it back into your half.
- COMPLETION
- Target score or points lead at time expiry.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- If the ball returns, get ahead of it and change the angle; rear-ending it in a crowd only adds chaos.
03 • Real roles / Strategies
Real roles i Strategies
Objective driver
Carries the flag, ball, checkpoints or active vehicle; the objective matters more than eliminations.
Blocker / escort
Builds a protective line, disrupts pursuit and does not consume pickups needed by the objective driver.
Operator / reserve
Operates traps in Games Masters, or watches the arena and tags in at the agreed moment in Tag Team.
Use a lobby vehicle in Carnage/Flag War/Wreck It to learn pickups and physics without buying a Workshop. Focus on one objective driver and one blocker.
Match mass and agility to the specific submode, manage repairs as a team resource and assign roles before every side swap. An owned Contender makes sense only for regular play.
04 • Reward and economic status
Cash/RP/JP plus separate Arena Points
Arena War settles match and round performance in GTA$/RP/JP while career progress uses separate Arena Points/Sponsorship Tier. AP is not cash. Pay varies by submode, result, duration and lobby; without a complete current table for all nine modes, the record remains informational and has no hourly figure.
Observed range specific to this activity; variant, result, duration or completion condition selects the value within it. Event multipliers are excluded.
B • community-reportedThe formula and roles apply to the stated settlement unit; event multipliers are excluded.

Buying the Workshop as an entry ticket
Join through Arena War Series first; the property is optional for participation.
Playing every mode like Carnage
Read the condition: flags, timers, checkpoints, traps and balls require different roles.
Wasting repairs
Leave the pickup for the objective driver or a critically damaged vehicle.
Confusing AP with cash
Track GTA$/RP/JP and Arena Points/Sponsorship separately.
