Complete activity guide

The standard 1–4-player, ten-wave mechanic is confirmed. Exact pay depends on the Job, cleared waves and configuration. Ludendorff Cemetery Survival and Cayo Perico Survival are seasonal returns, not permanently available or generally rotating Jobs—launch them only during an officially announced window.

Start here

Survivals

Start here

Reach Rank 15, then open Pause Menu → Online → Jobs → Play Job → Rockstar Created → Survivals. You can also use an active Survival Series marker or Quick Join when shown.

Access and requirements

1–4 players, solo or co-op, on all supported platforms. No property or start fee is required; ammunition, armour and snacks are the practical run cost. Ammunition used in Survivals is currently restocked on return to Freemode under the later quality-of-life update.

If the start is missing

Check Rank 15 and the Rockstar Created filter. If one map is missing, launch another standard Survival. Ludendorff Cemetery and Cayo Perico return only seasonally, so their absence outside an official window is expected and does not mean the entire mode is locked.

01 • First completion, step by step

First completion, step by step

  1. 01

    Choose a readable map

    ACTION
For the first run choose a standard map with strong cover and short approaches, such as Industrial Plant, Processed or Sandy Survival.
    TIP
Before confirming the lobby, check difficulty and whether the Job ends after wave ten.
    RISK / FAILURE CONDITION
An open map with many attack lanes punishes solo play even when the first waves look easy.
    HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
Leave the lobby before launch and choose another standard location; you do not need to wait for a seasonal variant.
  2. 02

    Prepare the hold point

    ACTION
At launch find cover with one or two approach lanes, memorise health/armour locations and do not immediately collect weapons needed later.
    TIP
Assign roles so players watch different entrances while remaining close enough to carry a wave for one another.
    RISK / FAILURE CONDITION
Spreading across the map means one death isolates the rest from support and pickups.
    HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
Regroup in one defensible sector before the first wave ends; do not try to rescue a distant position under fire.
  3. 03

    Economise early waves

    ACTION
Clear waves 1–3 with accurate weapons, cover and short bursts. Save heavy weapons and some pickups for armoured enemies and vehicles.
    TIP
Use the final enemy to collect supplies safely and return the team to position.
    RISK / FAILURE CONDITION
Running for a pickup mid-wave exposes you to active spawn lanes.
    HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
Fall back, finish the wave and collect between rounds; a missed pickup is cheaper than losing the run.
  4. 04

    Control vehicles and flanks

    ACTION
From the middle waves prioritise vehicle gunners, helicopters and enemies wrapping around cover. One player calls/destroys vehicles while the rest close infantry lanes.
    TIP
Eliminate the gunner or pilot first when destroying the whole vehicle would cost too much ammunition.
    RISK / FAILURE CONDITION
Focusing the entire team on one helicopter lets infantry enter from behind.
    HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
Assign one player to the heavy target; everyone else holds cover and calls flanks.
  5. 05

    Survive a player loss

    ACTION
If someone dies during a wave, the survivors hold position. The fallen player returns next wave only if the team clears every enemy; a full team wipe ends the attempt.
    TIP
Slow the pace, use corners and isolate enemies instead of trying to reach the fallen body.
    RISK / FAILURE CONDITION
There is no mid-wave revive in the standard flow, so an aggressive rescue attempt usually causes a wipe.
    HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
Fall back to the narrowest approach, use armour/snacks and finish the wave to trigger the teammate's automatic return.
  6. 06

    Close wave ten

    ACTION
Save heavy ammunition for the final standard wave, remove aircraft/vehicles and only then clear the remaining infantry. Wait for the completion screen before changing session.
    TIP
Do not leave cover just because the enemy counter is low; the last heavy target can still flank the position.
    RISK / FAILURE CONDITION
A wave-ten wipe still ends the run without full completion.
    HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
If the team wipes, choose Replay/Quick Restart, keep a better hold point and change lane assignments rather than repeating the same split.

02 • Variants and mechanics

Variants and mechanics

Standard Survivals

1–4

Rockstar Created → Survivals after Rank 15.

OBJECTIVE
Survive ten waves without a full team wipe.
MECHANIC
Standard-location index: Boneyard, Del Perro Pier, Farmhouse, Forest, Glass Heroes, Grove Street, Industrial Plant, Kortz, Legion Square, Maibatsu Motors, Maze Bank, Meth Lab, Nuclear Silo, Processed, Quarry, Railyard, Sandy, Sawmill Plant, Scrapyard, Stab City, Underpass, Vespucci Canals and Zancudo. Map choice changes attack lanes, cover and vehicles, not the wave rule.
COMPLETION
Wave ten is cleared and Survival Passed appears.
HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
If one map is absent choose another standard map; after a wipe use Replay and improve the hold point.

Solo

1

Choose a standard map with one controllable chokepoint.

OBJECTIVE
Control every wave alone with no teammate available to carry a death.
MECHANIC
Alternate short bursts, cover and between-wave collection; do not split the map into multiple positions.
COMPLETION
Any death ends the attempt.
HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
After failure change map/hold point or invite a partner instead of burning another full ammunition load.

Co-op

2–4

The host launches a Survival and fills the lobby.

OBJECTIVE
Split approach lanes and keep at least one player alive through every wave.
MECHANIC
Real roles: anchor holds the main cover; flank watcher guards the side lane; anti-vehicle removes aircraft/vehicles; runner collects pickups only between waves.
COMPLETION
The last surviving player clears the wave and returns fallen teammates for the next.
HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
After losing a player everyone falls back to the anchor point; there is no manual revive during an active wave.

Alien Survivals — seasonal

1–4

Only while a Project 4808A–G variant appears in the active list/playlist.

OBJECTIVE
Survive waves in the themed Alien Survival locations.
MECHANIC
Historical/rotational index: Terminal, Ranch, Grapeseed, Desert, Arena, Pillbox and Zancudo. This is a special seasonal layer, not a guaranteed permanent menu entry.
COMPLETION
The active Job defines completion.
HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
When absent, return to standard Survivals; do not try to launch an inactive Job ID.

Zombie Survivals — seasonal returns

1–4

Ludendorff Cemetery or Cayo Perico only during an officially announced seasonal window.

OBJECTIVE
Fight unusual enemies, limited HUD information and rules defined by that variant.
MECHANIC
Ludendorff and Cayo use zombie/animal enemies and may include waves or awards beyond the standard. They are seasonal returns, not permanently available or generally rotating Jobs; do not transfer their rules to ordinary maps.
COMPLETION
Completion/award follows the active Job description.
HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
Outside an official window choose a standard Job; an absent seasonal map is not an account error and cannot be fixed with a bookmark.

Player-created / Creator Survivals

Job-dependent

Bookmarked/Community rather than Rockstar Created.

OBJECTIVE
Survive waves using the creator's configured parameters.
MECHANIC
Wave count, pickups, enemies and geometry can differ from the official standard; read the description and settings before launch.
COMPLETION
That Job's objective and completion screen.
HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
If the map is broken or blocks a spawn, leave and choose Rockstar Created; the guide cannot guarantee a user-created Job's quality.

03 • Real roles / Strategies

Real roles i Strategies

Real roles

Anchor

Holds the strongest cover and does not leave it for a pickup mid-wave.

Real roles

Flank watcher

Controls the side spawn and immediately calls a change in attack direction.

Real roles

Anti-vehicle

Saves heavy ammunition for vehicles/aircraft while the rest keep infantry under control.

SAFE FIRST RUN

Choose a standard map with one chokepoint, invite at least one teammate and agree to collect only between waves. The goal is a first clean ten-wave clear, not the highest kill count.

ADVANCED

Control spawn timing with the final enemy, preserve the right pickups for late waves and separate anti-vehicle duty from the main fire lane. Move hold points only before the next wave.

04 • Reward and economic status

Reward depends on waves cleared

The result screen settles cash and RP according to completed waves and the selected Survival configuration. Wave ten closes a full standard run; an earlier wipe produces a partial result. There is no single current official map table, so the record remains informational and has no hourly figure.

05 • Common mistakes and recovery

Common mistakes and recovery

Collecting pickups mid-wave

Leave the final enemy alive and collect during a controlled gap.

Everyone shoots the helicopter

Assign one anti-vehicle player while the rest hold infantry lanes.

Attempting a manual revive

Finish the wave—the fallen player returns next wave only if someone survives.

Treating Zombie/Alien as always available

Check the active menu; outside rotation choose a standard Survival.
