Classic Races
One guide for the permanent Land, Bike, Air and Sea families. It covers Rockstar Jobs access, lobby setup and the differences between Standard, GTA, Non-Contact and Rally without creating one page per track.
CLASSIC / RACESComplete activity guide
Start here
Classic Races
Open Pause Menu → Online → Jobs → Play Job → Rockstar Created → Races. Choose a race labelled Land, Bike, Air or Sea.
The host sets type, vehicle class, contact, weather, time of day and laps. Land/Bike/Air support 1–30 players, Sea 1–8; Rally is a Land/Bike variant.
Check that Rockstar Created is selected rather than Bookmarked or Community. If one Job is absent, choose another course in the same family—the guide does not depend on one rotating map.
Purchase
No mandatory purchase or start fee
Players
Land/Bike/Air 1–30; Sea 1–8

Land/Bike; driver and co-driver must work together
01 • First completion, step by step
First completion, step by step
01 Choose the family
- ACTION
- For the first run choose a Land Race in a familiar road class; Air and Sea use different handling.
- TIP
- Start with a short course and one or two laps.
- RISK / FAILURE CONDITION
- The wrong vehicle class can block your owned car.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- Use a Job-supplied vehicle or return to the lobby and change class.
02 Read the lobby settings
- ACTION
- Check race type, contact, slipstream, catch-up, traffic, class and lap count before confirming.
- TIP
- Use Non-Contact or a calm lobby while learning.
- RISK / FAILURE CONDITION
- GTA Race adds weapons and pickups, so it does not behave like Standard.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- If the wrong variant was selected, leave the vehicle screen before launch and correct the lobby.
03 Set the launch
- ACTION
- Choose a vehicle, confirm readiness and feed in throttle at the start instead of turning into the pack.
- TIP
- Leave room on both sides in a contact race.
- RISK / FAILURE CONDITION
- A first-corner collision can throw you past the checkpoint.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- Slow down, return through the checkpoint or use a controlled respawn when the course requires it.
04 Race through checkpoints
- ACTION
- Look two checkpoints ahead, brake before the corner and accelerate only once the vehicle is settled.
- TIP
- A clean corner exit matters more than very late braking.
- RISK / FAILURE CONDITION
- Missing a gate stops progress even while leading.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- Return to the missed gate immediately; continuing only increases the loss.
05 Finish the result
- ACTION
- Cross the finish after registering every checkpoint and wait for the result screen before leaving.
- TIP
- After the first run note the class and settings that felt comfortable.
- RISK / FAILURE CONDITION
- Leaving before settlement can interrupt Job completion.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- If the result did not register, launch another short course from the same menu.
02 • Variants and mechanics
Variants and mechanics
Land
1–30Rockstar Created → Races; Land filter
- OBJECTIVE
- Complete laps or a point-to-point course in a land vehicle.
- MECHANIC
- Vehicle class, contact, traffic and lobby settings strongly affect the run.
- COMPLETION
- Final checkpoint and finish line.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- After leaving the road, rejoin only in a safe gap; respawn if the vehicle is stuck.
Bike
1–30Bike filter and the correct motorcycle class.
- OBJECTIVE
- Complete the course on a motorcycle without missing checkpoints.
- MECHANIC
- Weight transfer and careful landings determine stability.
- COMPLETION
- Finish after the full course.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- After a fall, respawn quickly but wait until the bike is straight before accelerating.
Air
1–30Air filter; the Job/lobby determines the aircraft.
- OBJECTIVE
- Fly through the centre of each ring and complete the course.
- MECHANIC
- Speed, altitude and bank angle must be set before the ring.
- COMPLETION
- Final ring and finish.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- If a ring is missed, make a wide turn instead of stalling the aircraft in a sharp reversal.
Sea
1–8Sea filter; a Job-compatible boat.
- OBJECTIVE
- Drive the boat through water checkpoints.
- MECHANIC
- Waves and bouncing require lifting before a turn.
- COMPLETION
- Final water gate and finish.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- After spinning, point the bow at the next gate before applying full throttle.
Standard / GTA / Non-Contact
By courseHost selection in the lobby.
- OBJECTIVE
- Standard is pure racing; GTA adds weapons/pickups; Non-Contact removes player collisions.
- MECHANIC
- Changing type does not change course geometry but completely changes risk.
- COMPLETION
- Result on the Job screen.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- If the mode does not suit the group, finish a short run or return to the lobby—do not try to change rules mid-race.
Rally
Driver + co-driver pairsLobby variant for Land/Bike.
- OBJECTIVE
- The driver controls the vehicle while the co-driver calls the next checkpoint direction.
- MECHANIC
- Communication replaces the driver's full route information.
- COMPLETION
- The pair completes the route and finish.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- If communication breaks down, slow down and re-establish the rhythm rather than guessing at full speed.
Impromptu Race
2–16Freemode → Interaction Menu → Impromptu Race; the organiser sets a destination and invites nearby players.
- OBJECTIVE
- Reach the chosen destination in your current vehicle before the rivals.
- MECHANIC
- This is an open-map spontaneous race with an entry pot, not a Rockstar Created track.
- COMPLETION
- The first player at the destination settles the pot.
- HOW TO RECOVER THE RUN
- If the route is lost, mark the destination again; if the invite expired, the organiser creates another.
03 • Real roles / Strategies
Real roles i Strategies
Host
Chooses family, type, class, contact and race length, and should explain settings before launch.
Driver / racer
Owns checkpoint progression and a safe finish; ordinary races do not need artificial team roles.
Rally co-driver
Calls directions and announces corners early; this is a real role only in Rally.
Choose a short Land Race, Non-Contact and a familiar class. Learn checkpoints and braking before enabling contact or GTA Race.
Match the vehicle to the class, use slipstream only on a safe straight and plan passes on corner exit rather than in a crowded entry.
04 • Reward and economic status
Informational — no universal base rate
Cash and RP depend on the result and Job configuration. Rockstar does not publish one current base table, so this activity is informational rather than rankable.
Observed range specific to this activity; variant, result, duration or completion condition selects the value within it. Event multipliers are excluded.
C • community-reportedThe formula and roles apply to the stated settlement unit; event multipliers are excluded.

Common mistakes and recovery
GTA selected instead of Standard
Check the type in the lobby before the vehicle screen; GTA adds weapons and pickups.
Missed checkpoint
Return immediately or respawn; later checkpoints will not fix progression.
Owned vehicle unavailable
The class or Custom Vehicles setting excludes it; use a Job vehicle or correct the lobby.
06 • Readiness checklist
Readiness checklist
- Correct family and lobby type selected
- Vehicle class matches the settings
- I know the lap count and contact setting
- I registered every checkpoint and the result screen
